Turbulence!
Turbulence
Many passengers do not understand the effects of turbulence, or that an encounter with turbulence may occur without warning.
What is turbulence?
Turbulence is air movement that normally cannot be seen. It may occur when the sky appears to be clear and can happen unexpectedly. It can be created by any number of different conditions, including atmospheric pressures, jet streams, mountain waves, cold or warm fronts, or thunderstorms.
Different intensities of turbulence
Light turbulence - briefly causes slight, erratic changes in altitude and/or attitude.
Light chop - slight, rapid and somewhat rhythmic bumpiness without noticeable changes in altitude or attitude.
Moderate turbulence - similar to light turbulence, but greater intensity. Changes in altitude/attitude occur. Aircraft remains in control at all times. Variations in indicated air speed.
Plane
Travelling by air
Long haul
I fly
But I get no further
I try
But empty handed
I free fall.
The stewardess serves
A hearty meal
Of air pie
With plummet
Air Force
The sky is broken
Cracked by screaming, careless jets
Harsh military angles
Pierce ancient, unassuming nimbus
Trailing ragged water vapor scrags
Three or four of these
Arrested at the planning stage
And melted down for human kindness
Could gurgle pure and crystal water
Five billion spilling mouthfuls the world over
Make bonny leaping five year olds
Where now are only
Graves of tiny bones.

Ever had one of those days when you just can't get going?
The day started well enough!
Up early to collect Mother in Law and her new dog, Holly to go to the vet's. Holly was from a rescue centre and it was time for her to be spayed.
We wre told to be at the surgery between 9am and 9.30. Ofcourse we were there at 9am and got to see the vet at 10am!
Shopping on the way home..usual jobs done and as usual more yet to do...but I just feel so tired!
NEED TO GIVE MYSELF A KICK UP THE BACKSIDE !!!

Thanks Towelling Woman for reminding me of that old classic by the Kinks - Cut & paste into your browser & sing along!

Tea!
"Have a cuppa tea, have a cuppa tea,
Have a cuppa tea, have a cuppa tea,
Halleluja, halleluja, halleluja, rosie lea
Halleluja, halleluja, halleluja rosie lea.
If you feel a bit under the weather,
If you feel a little bit peeved,
Take granny’s stand-by potion
For any old cough or wheeze.
It’s a cure for hepatitis it’s a cure for chronic insomnia,
It’s a cure for tonsilitis and for water on the knee.
Tea in the morning, tea in the evening, tea at supper
Time,
You get tea when it’s raining, tea when it’s snowing.
Tea when the weather’s fine,
You get tea as a mid-day stimulant
You get tea with your afternoon tea
For any old ailment or disease
For christ sake have a cuppa tea.
Whatever the situation whatever the race or creed,
Tea knows no segregation, no class nor pedigree
It knows no motivations, no sect or organisation,
It knows no one religion,
Nor political belief."
Thanks to my pal Gill in Australia!
THE SENILITY PRAYER
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do,
and the eyesight to tell the difference.
A day at home today.
It was quite strange yesterday, returning home from teaching.
I started thinking about whether or not I missed the whole teaching culture, ie to be in school everyday....making decisions/policies etc....
Called in to the workshop to see hubby and surprised him with an ice lolly.
Once home I made him a lovely cottage pie with his favourite sliced potatoes, rather than mashed.
He didn't get in until just before 8pm by which time there was a cold beer in the fridge and a bath running.
We were watching Springwatch & I got all emotional over the lady who knew she was going blind...this together with the news of Dave's girlfriend made me think again.
I have another friend who has recently been diagnosed with a degenerative illness, as a result of the symptoms she has retired from teaching and is moving back to Cheshire to spend time with her family.
Life is relative!

Just heard our friend Dave was out on his motorbike, overtaking a car.
His girlfriend fell off the back, fell badly, shattered her leg....which had to be amputated!
Horrible news!
Tuesday! Teaching Today!
Always good for the soul!
A day with a class of 10 year olds!
Continuing with the age thing!

Yes, love the picture of the blue hydranga!
I have changed my layout again as it is currently raining, I hear thunder (no song please)and no doubt it is going to start lightning shortly! This is an ideal time therefore to do some pondering about approaching 50!

Billie Burke
“Age is not a particularly interesting subject. Anyone can get old. All you have to do is live long enough.”
Groucho Marx
